Laura Kwasnoski: Research Assistant for Cape May Raptor Banding Project

My name is Laura “Kwas”noski and I spent the summer of 2016 doing research with the Townsend lab. This research – in particular, studying the relationship between bird immunological function and environmental pressures – really launched my interest (and career) in avian ecology. After graduating Hamilton in 2018, I spent 14 months in California working with migrating birds of prey at the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory, surveying Spotted Owls at Point Blue Conservation Science, and collecting demography data on Swainson’s Hawks for Project Tracking Talons. In the fall, I’ll return East to continue studying migrating raptors at the Cape May Raptor Banding Project. Many thanks to Andrea for inspiring my avian ardor as well as for her constant willingness to support young ornithologists!
