Sustainable Recreation in the Adirondack Park

For the past semester I have been exploring the following question: what is the most appropriate and sustainable way (environmentally, economically, and socially) for me to interact with the Adirondack environment, yet still have fun?  To attempt to answer this question, I’ve spoken with local guidebook authors, DEC officials, taxidermists, environmentalists…the list goes on. When possible, I’ve also participated in the recreational activities I have studied to understand the recreational value of each one. My project focuses on hiking, hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling.

I am infinitely thankful to those that took the time to interview with a random college student. I am continually astounded by the generosity of the Adirondack community. Thank you. This would not have been possible without you.
