Gel Emulsion Transfers: Sarah Ferdinand ’22

For my gel emulsion project, I “crowd sourced” my contacts and asked my friends, family, and peers to take a picture of their view outside their front door. I ended up with around 30 images of doors from various parts of the United States, which I have plotted below. Although the process of the gel emulsion onto the metal sheet was not entirely successful, I still really enjoyed connecting with my friends and seeing their individual “views” during quarantine. Altogether, the body of photos creates the collective experience of being stuck inside during this time, and how that omnipresent feeling can create a sense of togetherness.
