At 4,175 feet in elevation, the summit of Lower Wolfjaw stands only ten feet lower than Upper Wolfjaw. Following his mistaken ascent of Upper Wolfjaw with Colvin and McKenzie, Ed Phelps summitted Lower Wolfjaw, possibly later that year, as he cut a trail to it from the Ausable Pond Road.
